About Dominic McGregor
Founder story & expertise
Dominic McGregor is an entrepreneur and investor with a background in social media. While at university, he created Student Problems, a social media account built around the everyday experiences of student life. After the account gained traction, he met Steven Bartlett and the pair began building a wider network of student-focused social audiences. That work became the foundation for Social Chain, which Dominic says scaled to around 750 people across the UK, US and Germany before he exited in August 2020. In the years since, Dominic has focused on investing in early-stage companies and running an academy that helps young people enter the social media and digital economy. In his Built Not Born In Business conversation, he speaks about audience ownership, first-principles thinking, social media strategy, co-founder alignment, self-belief, pressure, sobriety, business exit and the change in identity that can follow leaving a company you built from a young age.
