Who we are

Built Not Born In Business is a business media, podcast and education brand hosted by Chris and Helen Butler. For privacy questions, contact builtnotbornpodcast@twokrakens.studio.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the website, we may collect your name, email address, message content, resource requests, community enquiries, technical website information and information you choose to provide to us.

How we use your information

We may use personal information to respond to enquiries, provide requested resources, administer community or membership enquiries, improve the website, maintain security, understand website performance and send marketing where we have a valid lawful basis to do so.

Resources and email

When you request a free resource, we use the name and email address you provide to deliver that resource and record the request. We use Brevo to store the contact record and send the transactional resource email. We may also record the resource requested, the date, the number of resources requested and available campaign attribution information such as UTM source, medium and campaign.

Email marketing

Resource access does not require marketing consent. Where you separately choose to receive Built Not Born marketing, we record that choice and may use Brevo to send relevant business, podcast and community communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

Sharing information

We use service providers that help us operate the website and deliver services. This currently includes our website hosting provider and Brevo for contact management and transactional/resource email delivery. We may add analytics, payment, community or other providers as the platform develops. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, and to meet legal, accounting or operational requirements. Exact retention periods should be added before launch for each live system.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, as well as rights relating to consent. You can contact us to exercise your rights.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how your information is handled, contact us first so we can try to resolve them. You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Our website may embed or link to third-party services such as YouTube, Skool and social networks. Those services operate under their own privacy terms. Before launch, this notice and any consent controls should be updated to reflect every third-party service actually used.
